The Ouled DERRADJ (Circle of  BOU SAADA)

"According the information collected in the tribe, the population is given like exit of a character of race Arab of the name of DERRADJ and come from Morocco, in the 1° century of Hégire. The commission did not believe to have to attach a great value to this legend which does not offer any character of authenticity, because with the 1° century of Hégire, Arabic who was established in the country came from the east and not from the west, they formed part of the groups enrôlés for the holy war and did not trail herds behind them. One can suppose with more probability, than the tribe of Ouled DERRADJ could be made up towards the end of the 11 ° century of our era following the disorders produced by the great Arab invasion which had arrived this time with its herds. The population must introduce a mixture of Berber and Arabic, and its practices, at the same time agricultural and pastorales and wandering confirm this double origin. It lives under the tent and one meets at it only rare gourbis; it speaks the Arab language. Ouleds DERRADJ raise estimated horses, they are warlike "
